"Twitch" is the first short film I made with my current company New Dark Ages. It's an Australian dark comedy shot and finished on 16mm film back in the year 2000. It did pretty well in the international festival circuit where it was played at over 40 festivals around the world.
Around 2001 I signed an exclusive contract with Universal-backed company Hypnotic and for a little while (until the company changed their scope from distribution to production) they moved it around on cable stations and the Internet (It was played on Movieola quite a lot). However, after the several merges and transformations that Hypnotic suffered, the film ended up sitting on a shelf, gathering dust for the remaining of the 7 year period the contract went for.
Finally, distribution purgatory is over! No more exclusive contracts from now on. My website still receives quite a lot of hits from people looking for info mainly on two of the film's actors. These are Jessica Napier and Paul Tassone.
Jessica is an accomplished Aussie actress who became very popular in Europe with the TV series "McLeod's Daughters", and similarly Paul Tassone has achieved international popularity with another series called "All Saints". Both actors have been in other more significant works but television has introduced them to a bigger number of people overseas.
I hope you get to watch it; it is very different to my latest film "The New Life" which is also available on Filmannex. While "The New Life" is a slick and enigmatic work, "Twitch" is raw and in your face... but if you share my twisted sense of humour, you may appreciate it.
