Bradford International Film Festival
The New Life has been selected to screen at the 13th Bradford International Film Festival, in West Yorkshire, England, which will run from 9th to 24th March 2007. This pretty well established festival is operated and hosted by the National Media Museum, a very high tech place worth 60 million GBP. This will be the UK premiere of the film, even if later will play in Wales and possibly other fests too. So, pretty happy about this. Website: http://www.bradfordfilmfestival.org.uk/ The New Life will screen on Saturday 17th March at 5:45pm together with the French feature A Summer Day. Venue: The Cubby Broccoli Cinema, Bradford, U.K. It's interesting that they have paired The New Life with a Nouvelle Vague style drama. However from the summary written for the The New Life by the festival's organisers, I believe that they've taken it as a reality bending drama rather than a horror or supernatural film, which is fair enough. I prefer to see it as a dark fantasy or horror myself but it's rewarding to see that the film somehow breaks the usual barriers generally associated to different genres. It broadens the horizon; here's the summary by the Bradford Film Festival: "A novelist consumed with guilt over his previous relationship has increasing nightmares which distort the line between fantasy and reality. A well written, performed and accomplished drama."
