A Night Of Horror
And at last, people will see The New Life in Australia and it couldn't be closer to home, since it will screen at "A Night of Horror", the inaugural fright fest that will take place at the Chauvel (and awards night at the Paddington RSL) from March 23rd to 25th. The New Life will screen on Saturday 24th March at 10pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.mca-tix.com I'm not quite sure but I believe that this festival is organised by some of the people who did the "Eye Scream Halloween FF" for the last five years or so. The difference is that now they've gone international (and thank God we didn't have to wait until October!), so expect to see a pretty good level of entries. I will certainly attend and I'd love to see you there too. Please visit their website: http://www.anightofhorror.com/

Today I had a bit of a chat with Dean, one of the organisers of this festival, and he told me that there is no connection between them and Eye Scream, the other festival I mentioned before. So, I was completely wrong. :) A Night Of Horror is shaping up really well by the sounds of it. I look forward to it.

News Flash, News Flash: Kaja wins the "Scream Queen Award" at A Night Of Horror for her performance in The New Life! Please join me in congratulating Kaja in this great win. Unfortunately she wasn't feeling that well last night, so she couldn't attend the ceremony. I collected the prize on her behalf (but don't worry Kaja, I won't be able to cash it!) :D The editor of People Magazine, sponsor of the award had very nice words towards Kaja's performance when presenting the award. A Night Of Horror was great fun and some very good films were shown, particularly in the same block of The New Life, there were other supernatural stories from overseas that I really liked. However, prizes mainly went to what people see as typical horror, like zombie stories, etc. which is fair enough considering the nature of the festival. Salvatore was there on Saturday and we both commented on the great picture and sound quality of the digital projection of the Chauvel, it kind of makes kine transfers to film and dolby remixes something of the past when you practically can achieve the same quality playing off a DVD (if only other cinemas across the country and world followed their example!). As tired as I am of watching The New Life, it felt like a new experience and the big screen definitely helped bringing to life the little subtleties of the film, for which we spent a lot of time while shooting. Next week is Newtown, and that will be a completely different festival, yet I look forward to it. Cheers, Daniel
